    Top book, I mostly read more recent combat books but it was a pleasure to have an insight to the Great War. Would definitely recommend

    This is a truly inspiring book of a young lad going of to fight in the First World War. The stories told are funny at times and serious other stories. I must admit I had difficulty putting this book away, a very enjoyable read.

    A wonderful insight to life as a soldier in the First World War. Effortless to read, insightful and even light hearted at times. Although nearly 100 years ago it seems, after reading these memoirs, that nothing has really changed and it makes you wonder what it's all about!
