About the author

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction.She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.

    Robin Hobb has created a beautiful world with well written characters that you come to both hate and care about. If you like sleep, avoid this book as you won’t be able to put it down. Highly enjoyable and addictive! Highly recommend.

    A book this good , you're almost compelled to write a review. Simply the best book I have ever read. I have never had a book trigger an emotional response. Credit to the Hobb , it so well written It almost as if I am fitz and I'm telling the story. Now for the third....

    What a great read these books are. I only downloaded the first one because it was free and the second I could not put down. It kept me up until 4am one night just so I could read what happened to FitzChivalry. Normally I read history based on fact like Jean Plaidy or historical thrillers like C S Samson. This is a new genre for me and absolutely loved it. I highly recommend this trilogy - what a great imagination it must have taken to write it.

    A great trilogy. Characters you want to read about, a good plot and well written, such that both my wife and I have flown through all 3 books. Prior to buying, I was worried the magical elements may be too much for me to enjoy, but they form part of the story rather than being about them, and are really believable. I now think of my own family and dog as 'pack' though I've not yet been able to 'skill' to them! The fist book is great, the second better. The mountain trail is a little long in the third, but the ending is excellent. I'm really looking forwards to reading more about Fitz, the Fool and Nighteyes in the next trilogy.

    Sorry but I don't get this series at all Dull dull dull Read the first and just about interested enough to buy second because it was under £2 but wouldn't down load book 3 for free Covenant, Magician, Malazan book of fallen all far far superior in everywhere

    I loved the first book, but this is way better. I really couldn't put it down. It's 4 o'clock in the morning and I'm just starting on the next book, the Assassins Quest. They are that good I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Fitz is a hero if he wants to be or not.
