George R. R. Martin is the author of fourteen novels, including five volumes of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, several collections of short stories and numerous screen plays for television drama and feature films. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

    Mindblowingly good. So good I've read the entire series again. And it's great to see that both books on here only cost £3.49 compared to the £14 I originally paid in Waterstones.

    A fantastic series, easy reading. I am sorry that some of, what I thought were, the main characters were killed off but then now you cannot predict the ending, which is good. I have just straight read the first five parts of this epic story when will the last two parts be ready. Please don't leave me in limbo for too long.

    I've read all of A Song of Ice and Fire, and enjoyed each book, and will continue to read them for as long as Martin intends to write them, but there seems to be a lacking of conclusions. There seems to never be any climax to the books, but there still are surprises along the way. There's a new book out called The Word of the Gods - The Spirit of War, which is just as long but has more zest and action, and it includes a rather chaotic and exciting ending that will want you reading more, much like these books will. I would recommend it to anyone, but especially to those that are enthralled in epic fantasy like these ground-breaking books. Check it out, I'm glad I did!

    After five volumes and many thousands of words, at last I understand you Mr Martin! I thought there was a plot, a process, a conclusion that we were heading towards, and I stayed with you. Now I have realised that I was simply following a soap opera: dramatic, detailed, but ultimately pointless. I will give you this though, after five volumes you led me to feel annoyed. Truly irritated by a torrent of plot defects and endless teasing. Enough! I'm beyond caring!

    What can I say that's not, undoubtedly, been said already!? EPIC, and not in the "oh that pizza was epic" sense, i literally mean epic. The best series of books I've ever read and i read a lot, each book is better than the last! Thankfully I have a 1yo to keep me busy until the next book comes out :P
